CONDENSE

My graduation project which finally put everything I had learnt over time into the best piece that I had delivered to date. Based on my dissertation research about a compact city (a sustainable urban form) I produced my own interpretation based from what I had discovered about the subject. Previous models and ideas failed in the past but I used these failures to my disadvantage to make my design so successful.

The design was heavily architectural rather than interior design based, however the structures I formed did produce an interior of their own. I found myself being very ambitious by working on such a large scale. The final outcome was a set of 4 tower blocks which formed 8 apartments suspended over sheffield train station all orientated in a way that would encourage social interaction with neighbours as well as linking the rooftops. In the public space below I produced seating areas where the public could rest before or after their journeys with a charge port available. The style was a mix of brutalism with the heavy concrete involvement as well as a mix of modernism where the interior was kept simple and cladded mainly with timber.
