SHRUB & PAPERBACK

The Shrub and Paperback is the very first project I completed for my course, the brief given was to develop an old grade II listed building into a hybrid space that would be host to both food and service. There were multiple challenges with this project due to the building being listed as it meant very few alterations could be done to the facade. The site is also known as 32 Cambridge St., Sheffield.
The two spaces I combined were a fruit and vegetable market with a library which would also act as a sensory room. I liked the idea of a market style setting for my store where students who heavily populated the surrounding area could be good quality cheap fruit and vegetable and also have a place to go for de-stressing. The space would also promote the use of up cycled and natural materials such as reclaimed timber and ivory plants which would cover the ceiling and parts of the walls.
